Hello, all. I was wondering if I reach for help within my county for county help with childcare can my ex use that against me? I am looking for employment as I havent worked for 1+ years, but have realized that the child support I am paid will barely cover 2 days a week until I get employment. So I may have to get some assistance while I get on my feet and permanenantly employed. Can he find out that I am doing this? Do I have to report that to him? Any ideas? I have loved being at home with her for this long thank you to my family, but I feel it is time to mooooove forward instead of thinking about this all day long! He won't know unless you tell him or the state goes after him for an increase in support. However, the state won't automatically ask for an increase in support; you have to request one.
As far as him using it against you in custody, he can try but he won't get very far. You're trying to better your situation and the courts like to see that, they don't look down on it. I say do it. The application process is kept confidential to everyone except you and the worker. |

I agree with Nas. It is all confidential and he won't know unless you tell him.

Yeah he will not hear that from me. This is my next step being I have watched her grow for the last 17 months, going to college full time(I graduate in October with my associates degree) Now for employment, health insurance, and childcare so I am well on my way. Lately I have been paying medical care out of my pocket thank gosh she hasnt been sick at all this year!

Well I say go for it. If you need the assistance then you need it. Being a single parent while going to school is no easy task. If the help is available, use it. Good luck!

Asking for help so that you can get a job is the responsible thing to do. It helps everybody! Let him complain about it. It would backfire on him. If he objects you can ask him to make up the difference in income!
Just kidding, but you get this idea. Ed... -------------------- Owner of Child-Custody-Forum.com.
